Phoenix Research Labs, Inc. today announced a partnership with Voxeleron, LLC to lead in the development of optical coherence tomography (OCT) segmentation software. The parties have entered into a strategic partnership to apply Voxeleron segmentation technology to the Phoenix Image-Guided Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) data. This will allow users to readily analyze retinal layers, precisely measuring changes to thickness and structure over time. “We’re very excited by the opportunity to work with Phoenix. Clearly they have a strong portfolio of technologies optimized for animal eye research, so the addition of image analysis software can only strengthen their customers’ ability to effectively perform fundamental research,” said Jonathan Oakley, PhD, Co-founder and Principal at Voxeleron. “The Voxeleron algorithms offers an unparalleled ability to automatically analyze layer thickness in the mouse and rat eye,” said Phoenix Research founder and CEO, Bert Massie, PhD. “The Phoenix Image-Guided OCT provides a precise and documented location for the OCT scan which seamlessly works with the InSight XL automated analysis tool to facilitate longitudinal studies.” Based on proprietary algorithms incorporating active shape models and advanced machine learning techniques, the Insight XL software will lead the field in terms of accuracy and robustness. This new OCT segmentation software tool will ship with Phoenix’s Image-Guided OCT System at the end of 2013.
